Assistant Coaches
Joel Paulson
Joel started training in 2013 and has been active in HEMA for the last 10 years. He's been an assistant coach on various levels since 2016. Joels favorite disciplines when it comes to training is "abrazare" (grappling) and dagger fighting. If you've got
any questions he's your man, when it comes to knowledge about these disciplines there's almost
no question he can't answer.
When he's not training, he does a little bit of
everything, he enjoys doing crafts, immerse himself
in role-playing and video games. He also likes
relaxing and watching movies or tv- series.
Anders Göransson
Anders first started showing an interest in HEMA in 2018 and have been practicing ever since.
His favourite parts of HEMA is longsword-practice and wrestling. He thinks fighting in armour is really fun and during historical events that's often where he spends his time.
Anders have been practicing different kinds of
martial arts since 2012 and has experience in karate and wrestling.
When he's not engaged in HEMA-practice he likes to travel some place warm, play video games,
watch movies and tv-series.
Katarina Gullberg
Katarina has extensive experience in martial arts, more specifically 21 years in Aikido, Goju-ryu karate, Tai Chi, Kung Fu and guest training in Gracie Jiu Jiutsu from time to time. When she came to the club in 2019, the way of training through sparring was relatively new to her, but it soon made her want more.
Katarina always enjoyed to evolve by teaching others.
It started early when she as an 18-year-old became an assistant instructor in parachuting, where she then remained for 12 years before it was time for new adventures. She has traveled a lot thanks to her martial arts practice and has been inspired by different ways of training and teaching. In addition to new knowledge she usually gains both new contacts and friends during her travels.
Of course, she likes swords too and has done so since the 1990s, but she almost thinks it is equally interesting to see how the medieval combat system ties in with other weapons such as dagger and spear. To her it is exciting to study historical manuscripts, gain deeper insights and at the same time be able to note all the similarities between HEMA and a lot of the other martial arts she's got experience from.
